💙 A Teacher’s Heart Never Forgets 💙 Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week By Dr. Paco Usero-González www.druserogonzalez.com There’s a reason why we say teachers change lives. Because they do, quietly, consistently, with love, patience, and fierce belief in what’s possible.
Before I became an assistant professor and mentor of future teachers, I was a classroom teacher. I remember the early mornings, the late-night lesson planning, the moments of joy, and the heartbreak too. I remember the student who whispered, “Thank you for seeing me.” I remember the one who came back years later just to say, “You made me feel safe.” Teachers are often the first ones to believe in children when they can’t yet believe in themselves. They are cheerleaders, translators, social workers, comedians, storytellers, actors, advocates, curriculum artists and singers (don´t judge me, we sang in class a lot!) often all in one day. They dry tears, spark dreams, open doors, and remind students that they matter. In so many homes and communities, teachers become chosen family. So this week — AND EVERY WEEK — I want to say: Thank you!!! ¡Gracias! ;) To the bilingual teachers navigating two languages and two worlds. To the ESL teachers who know every student's story matters. To the special education teachers adapting with heart. To every educator showing up, even when it’s hard. You are the heartbeat of education. If you're reading this and you're a teacher (or you’re becoming one), know this: You are part of something powerful. You are shaping futures. You are loved. And you are not alone! With admiration and pride, Dr. Paco Former teacher, forever teacher at heart @druserogonzalez
